♥ She is the only child of Utada Teruzane and Abe Junko. Both parents both worked in the music industry - her father, is a music producer,
and her mother was an extremely famous Enka singer in the 1970's, who went under the alias of Fuji Keiko.
♥ While in school in New York, other students had trouble pronouncing her name 'Hikaru', and eventually shortened it to 'Hikki'.
♥ Utada actually debuted in the United States before ever releasing anything in Japan, under the name CUBIC U, but was unsuccessful in
breaking out into the mainstream.
♥ In 2001, Utada had both the #1 Selling Album of the Year as well as the #1 Selling Single of the Year.
